Bite Beauty Lip Lab Experience!

Last week I visited the Bite Beauty Lip Lab and factory in Toronto. Check out their web page here. Bite Beauty has a huge selection of lip related products and more. I purchased their lip mask from Sephora before this visit and it has got to be my favourite lip balm type product for when my lips are dry. Also, everything is handmade in Toronto, Canada, which is super cool! If you're interested in learning about my experience, continue reading.

I went with a close friend and we had an amazing time creating our own personal lipsticks. Plus we got some freebies, which is always a bonus! The process was really neat. I made an appointment a few days before and we arrived a few minutes early. When we walked in we were greeted and waited for one of the Lip Lab Artists to free up. In the mean time we were offered some wine for purchase and a free Perrier water to sip on. After about 15 minutes we started our appointment!

Our Lip Lab Artist started by giving us some of their agave lip scrub and agave lip balm to prep our lips for trying out our custom lip shades! Next, he asked us what service we wanted (we both cheaped out with the one “Custom Lipstick” option) and we started describing the types of shades we liked and the finish we wanted. I am drawn to light pinky nudes and decided on a sheer finish. Our artist got to work by selecting the shades he thought we would like based on our descriptions. He pulled out a small spatula and scooped a tiny amount of pigment and some of the sheer base and began mixing and smearing them together to get a nice consistency.

After he finished mixing the colours he put some on a small lip brush for us to apply to see if we liked the shade. This guy had some serious skills because I didn’t have a single complaint about the lippie! It was the perfect pinky nude shade I have been searching for forever. Lipstick dreams do come true. Luckily my friend had the same experience! We wished we could have been pickier so we could have played more, but he truly nailed it on the first try. Dude was good at his job!

After we decided on the shade and finish, we picked out our scents. There are about 10 different scents to choose from which are all listed on the website and we were able to choose up to two to add to our lipsticks. I chose wild berry and vanilla. Yum!

Next, our Lip Lab Artist mixed up the shade and put it in a small heater to warm it up so it would melt. He prepped the mold for our lipsticks, swirled the container with the melted product and then carefully poured it into the mold and placed it on a cold plate to harden it for a few minutes. Once it had hardened he removed it from the mold, put it in the tube and packaged up our products in a beautiful bag.

I also purchased the agave lip balm to throw in my purse since I have dry lips always. Plus we received a couple freebies! Yay! I bought the Agave Lip Balm and received a mini Amuse Bouche Lipstick in shade Pepper as well as the Matte Crème Lip Crayon in Blanc. In total, I spent just over $80 for the lipstick and the balm and received the other freebies. The experience is a bit pricey, but it was a great girls day and we had a great time. It’s not something I would be in a rush to try again soon, but look forward to going back with some other friends who are interested in trying it too! When you’re in need of a little extra pampering or just something fun to do for an afternoon, I definitely recommend trying this out. It was wonderful.
